Case Study: Day and Ross Transportation, Sameday Courier, Dartmouth, NS

day and ross

Client: Day & Ross Transportation Group
Project Consultant: Hatchard Engineering Ltd
General Contractor: Lindsay Construction
Market Sector: Industrial and Transportation Logistics

Project Highlights: Day & Ross offers a full service transportation and logistics solution throughout North America. Sameday Worldwide is an integral part of the Day & Ross Transportation Group which is privately owned by the McCain family. Sameday provides a full range of services to move fragile, awkward, and higher-value freight on-time and damage-free.

In advance of construction as an independent contractor, Paul Behner was engaged on behalf of the McCain family in collaboration with Hatchard Engineering to seek cost efficiencies in relocating Sameday to the existing Day & Ross facility. Also under consideration was to build a free standing terminal for Sameday at another location in the Burnside Industrial Park. The option of amalgamating the two divisions at the existing Day & Ross was preferred, but presented significant operational challenges and extraordinary civil construction cost constraints.

Paul provided the development strategy and plan to successfully deliver positive results in support of the client’s preference and desire to realize overall operational efficiencies. The Day & Ross Terminal was able to maintain its robust transportation operations while receiving substantial infrastructure improvements simultaneously with the Sameday expansion. Paul’s direct expertise in managing complex civil construction projects delivered seamless value to both the client and project team.
